What does hypnosis and the Law of Attraction have in common?
Imagine you want to redecorate your living room. You know how you want your room to feel and look. Maybe a cozy comfortable room, fresh paint on the wall, a new comfy sofa in your favorite color. You start to shop around and find the furniture and accessories that will give you the look and feel you want. You love spending time in your new room – decorated just the way you like.
Now, let’s rewind the above scene.
Think About An Ugly Sofa
Again, imagine you are in the process of decorating your living room. Now, think of what it will be like if you have to sit on a hard orange sofa and stare at dull walls. How does that feel?
What?….You don’t want to imagine a hard orange sofa and dull walls. You know this isn’t what you want, and you don’t want to waste your time and energy thinking about things you don’t want?
It doesn’t make any sense for you to spend your time thinking about WHAT YOU DON’T WANT (that ugly orange sofa) when you know you don’t want one in your living room.
It only makes sense to think about WHAT YOU WANT. And when you do that, you can take action and create what you want.
The Law of Attraction
The Law of Attraction is the belief that positive thoughts are magnets for positive life experiences and negative thoughts are magnets for negative life experiences. Based on the law of attraction, if you have a specific desire and focus joyfully on that desire, it will be fulfilled – BUT NOT BY MAGIC.
If you were to sit and spend all your energy imagining a new car it wouldn’t suddenly appear in your driveway. We know life doesn’t work like that!
The truth is, that focusing on what you want (i.e. your positive thought), you begin to change your beliefs, attitude, behaviors, and ultimately actions. As you focus on what you want, you become more aware of opportunities. As you continue to take action of those opportunities, you continue to move forward – thus allowing The Law of Attraction.
Hypnosis Helps You Keep The Positive Thought in Your Mind
The only reason people come seek help from me is because their thoughts aren’t in alignment with their desire, and they feel stuck. Stuck as if you really can’t get that orange sofa out of your mind.
A person might want to find a way to feel comfortable communicating to a group at work, but her thoughts scream, “No! Don’t! It’s too scary!” Or one might need to give a formal presentation, but her inner mind panics “DON’T!! You will forget what to say and make a fool of yourself!”
People get stuck because they can’t stop thinking about the things they don’t want. A good hypnotherapist gives you the tools to help you change your thoughts, and if needed, ultimately actions.
How does a hypnotist help?
The short answer is, a certified hypnotist helps you showing you what’s going on with your thoughts and provides techniques to help change them. Hypnosis is simply the name of the state of deep relaxation that allows your inner subconscious mind to accept the positive changes you want. The long answer is found on my other site, The Center of Success.
Check Your Thoughts Today
Take a moment and think about something you want to improve. Be honest with yourself. Do you always focus on what you want? Or do you sometimes slip into that vortex of worry and fear, wondering if it will ever happen? If you don’t find a way to change your thoughts, you might just get stuck with an ugly orange sofa.
Shameless plug: Feeling stuck? Call me. I’m a Bd.Certified Hypnotherapist and Coach who specializes in helping women overcome negative thinking patterns, worry and fear.
The comparison is brilliant Wendy. It’s so true. If we keep that in mind, it really help us to keep focused on what we need and want. :)))
It’s amazing that I stumbled upon this today. I actually see a hypnotherapist and have been focusing on my strong belief in the law of attraction after realizing it’s evidence in my life before I ever understood what it was. I am constantly amazed. My hypnotherapist is an 89 year old psychologist. He still holds firmly to what he knows about mental health, but also teaches the law of attraction while not calling it such. He doesn’t believe in medication, except in rare cases, and helps focus my mind when needed. He has become almost a partner in my journey. After reading this blog, I think I have found the next step I’d like to take, which, while my doctor and I always talk, not hypnotize, may include a potentially helpful hypnosis session because even with everything that I have experienced and learned, that orange couch can be a sticking point. Thank you so much for this.
