Five Myths about positive thinking:
1. Positive Thinking will make me stupid.
Positive thinkers are really creative thinkers. They take the time to look at an issue or problem and reframe it. For example: “I’ll never be able to do this.” can become “I might be able to do this.”
2. Positive Thinking has nothing to do with reality.
People who are well grounded in reality realize that there are many possibilities. Positive thinkers intentionally choose the possibility that fits their desires.
3. Positive Thinkers ignore negative thoughts.
When negative thoughts are ignored they get bigger and bigger. The more we ignore them the more insidious they become. Ignore negative thoughts and you are at the risk of those negative thoughts showing up as as headaches, stomach issues and worse. Positive thinkers know that ignoring negative thoughts can be detrimental to their health. To be a positive thinker you must BE AWARE of negative thoughts, and then intentionally create new, beneficial thoughts to achieve your goals.
4. People who practice positive thinking are wasting their time wishing.
Lots of people who “don’t believe in positive thinking” think that positive thinkers are hoping to manifest something by simply wishing. True positive thinkers know that directing their thoughts has the powerful ability to change their attitudes. When we want to do something and it seems to be a challenge, we might not do it. When we shift our thoughts to become more positive, we can take action more easily.
5. Positive thinking doesn’t change reality.
Your thinking is what determines your reality. If you think that bad things will happen, you’ll find ways to prove that this is true for you. When you change your thoughts and become more positive, you automatically begin to focus your attention on the outcome you desire. As you become aware of more possibilities, more opportunities will appear in your field of vision. The reality of a positive thinker is that he sees more possibilities and more opportunities to create the reality he wants.
Think of all the good things that can happen in your life when you practice positive thinking…
