How To Stop Worry From Taking Over
– Transcript of video –
Hi my name is Wendy Merron, I’m a Certified Hypnotherapist. I want to share a very powerful technique that I teach my clients to help them so that they stop that incessant worry about the loved ones in their lives.
I want to preface this with a concept that I want to share with you about our thoughts and energy and how powerful our thoughts are. When I have a thought in my mind and that thought is focused on something that I don’t want, it’s going to make me feel bad.
So for example if I’m the kind of person who’s worried about speaking in public and I’m going to be doing a presentation in front of four hundred people and I’m starting to worry and have thoughts about what if I stumble? What if I’m not making sense and everybody’s looking at me? What if I’m embarrassing myself?
The thoughts that are in my mind are eventually going to affect how I physically feel. I might get a headache, I might find that my stomach started to go or my heart starts to pound. And that’s simply because the thought in my head has energy.
Now we’ll take it to the next step. Another way to look at thoughts and energy is this. Have you ever thought about a friend you hadn’t thought about for a long time? And all of a sudden they called you? Well, what was causing that? Was it the energy of your thought? Was it coincidence? Well, it happened to most of us at different times in our life and I would say it’s not really a coincidence.
So to take these concepts that when we’re worrying about a loved one in our life we have a thought in our mind, we’re sending energy. The energy we get from worrying is negative energy. For example if I’m worrying about my daughter walking home from school at night or driving in a long trip and I’m worried about what might happen or if she gets in a car accident and you know how those thoughts kind of keep on going and going.
Well, what if my thoughts are sending that negative energy to her? I certainly don’t want that to happen. So what I do to help myself feel better about my loved ones is any time I have one of those negative thoughts and worries, I quickly replace it with another thought. Now the reality is that we can only have one thought at a time in our mind. We have fifteen to fifty thousand thoughts and they’re really really quick. But we can have one thought at a time.
So I’m going to choose a thought that focuses on the outcome I want.
And what I’m going to do is I’m going to imagine my daughter surrounded in a beautiful column of white light that comes all the way down from the universe surrounding her and she’s inside this column of safety and health and happiness. I’m going to imagine that and when I imagine that in my mind I’m sending the energy to my body so I feel okay. Am I really sending that to her? Maybe yes, maybe no. I don’t know but I know I’m going to feel better.
I take this concept and then I’m going to take it to the next stage. After I’ve imagined this for a moment or two, then I imagine something in the future. I imagine one day, a week, months, a couple of years, ten, twenty years in the future where I’m in a situation with my daughter and she’s happy, her life is doing so well. She’s healthy, she’s safe.
I can add anything into this thought in my mind. In fact, what I do is I imagine that my husband and I have rented this big house on the beach and there is all of our children and their spouses and grandchildren. And everybody is happy and healthy and enjoys their life. It’s a great scene in my mind. Just why I like to revisit it.
So when I have that thought in my mind, what happens? I’m feeling physically better. Is there an added benefit of sending that wonderful energy? Who knows? I like that idea. So I’m going to actually walk you through this process right this moment.
So close your eyes for a second and imagine your loved one and imagine that worry. Now on the count of three I’m going to ask you to delete that worry, release that worry, do whatever you can do in your imagination to get rid of that worry. And the moment you release it I want you to imagine that wonderful column of white light coming all the way down from the universe.
So now you have that worry – one, two, three, put that column of light, see your loved one smiling and happy. Safe and healthy. Good. If you believe in angels, put some angels and surround your loved one with angels. Anything you can do. And now let that scene fade a little bit and go into the future. See yourself with this person in the future. Everything is fine. This person is smiling and happy. Maybe there’s other people in this image. And just hold on to this image. Good. You’ve got it.
So now take this new technique and for this week, every time you notice a worry, do the white light and do that future visualization. And I can almost guarantee you’re going to feel better. Let me know how it works for you. I’ll see you in the next video.
