When you are in control of your thoughts they no longer control you.
When that happens I guarantee that you will be happier.
Why bother to take charge of your thoughts?
Before I answer that, I want to let you know that your thoughts are the most powerful part of you because they form your beliefs.
The truth is, a belief is simply a thought that you’ve had over and over, and over.
You’ve probably noticed some of those nagging limiting beliefs about yourself…you know, the ones that sound like…
“I can’t do that…”
“I’m too old to change…”
“Good things happen to other people, but not to me….”
These are probably familiar beliefs that you’ve held for a long, long time.
These beliefs are the thoughts that have been holding you back from quitting your job, and starting your own
Did you know that it’s impossible to have two different thoughts at the same time?
Did you know that it’s impossible to have two different feelings at the same time?
I know that seems weird, but give it a try.
Right now, try to be worried and happy at the same time.
What happened?
You could generate those feelings fast so they come and go quickly, but I’ll bet you couldn’t hold on to them at the same time.
A Simple Way To Take Control Of Your Thoughts
Just for today, every time you notice a feeling you don’t want, like sadness, frustration, worry or feeling alone, quickly replace it with a thought that represents something you want in the future.
You can imagine sitting on a warm beach enjoying the sound of the ocean…
Or maybe walking in a lovely forest with a friend – the sun streaming through the trees…
Even better…take yourself on an imaginary vacation to someplace you’d love to go to…
Do your best to hold on to that new thought – even for 20 seconds.
Practice that new thought often.
It’s an easy way to take control of your thoughts and retrain your inner mind to help you feel good by focusing on what you want in your life.
